Prescription

Why do I have to obtain EndeavorRx through a prescription?

As an FDA-authorized medical device, EndeavorRx is designed for the treatment of a medical disorder and should be used under the supervision of a medical professional who can manage a broader treatment program and can oversee adherence and compliance with the treatment program.

How do I get a prescription for EndeavorRx?

Once a healthcare provider determines your child’s eligibility for EndeavorRx, they can submit a prescription to Phil pharmacy. Once submitted, you will receive a text message from Phil pharmacy with a confirmation link to begin treatment. After payment is made, you’ll receive an activation code via text and email to get started.

Who determines suitability for getting a prescription?

Your child’s healthcare provider can determine whether EndeavorRx is a good fit for your child. Akili does not make determinations about eligibility.

How do I renew my child’s prescription for EndeavorRx?

Subsequent refills can be billed and dispensed by Phil pharmacy, on schedule and automatically. Phil pharmacy can provide details regarding how to activate your next cycle or cancel your upcoming refill(s). You can also talk to your doctor to see what the next steps are for your child.

How many days does my EndeavorRx prescription enable my child to play?

An EndeavorRx prescription provides 30 days of treatment once your code is activated.

Cost & Coverage

How much does EndeavorRx cost?

The cash price for EndeavorRx is $99. If insurance covers EndeavorRx, the out-of-pocket cost will vary based on insurance plan benefits.

How can I find out if EndeavorRx is covered by my insurance before I get a prescription?

You would need to reach out to your insurance company to inquire about coverage before getting a script. Alternatively, after you obtain a script, you can call Phil pharmacy at (855) 977-0975 to inquire about coverage.

After I purchase EndeavorRx, can it be used for more than one child?

No, an EndeavorRx activation code can only be used by the individual for whom it was prescribed. If multiple children in your household have been prescribed EndeavorRx, you’ll receive an individual activation code for each child and individual payment request emails for each activation code.

If you have more than one child prescribed EndeavorRx, your children can still use the same device to play EndeavorRx. However, they will not be able to play at the same time, and will access their personsalized treatment on their respsective Akili Accounts.

Using The Treatment

Will my child experience any side effects from using the EndeavorRx treatment?

There were no serious adverse events seen in any clinical trials of EndeavorRx. Of 538 participants in trials supporting EndeavorRx authorization, 50 participants (9.3%) experienced treatment-related adverse events, including frustration (6.1%), headache (1.3%), dizziness (0.6%), emotional reaction (0.4%), nausea (0.4%), and aggression (0.2%).

If your child experiences frustration, emotional reaction, dizziness, nausea, headache, eyestrain, or joint pain while playing EndeavorRx, pause the treatment. If the problem persists, contact your child’s healthcare provider. If your child experiences a seizure, stop the treatment and contact your child’s healthcare provider.

A very small percentage of individuals who play video games may experience epileptic seizures or blackouts when exposed to certain light patterns or flashing lights. Playing video games may trigger epileptic seizures or blackouts in these individuals. These conditions may also trigger previously undetected epilepsy or seizures in persons who have no prior history of epilepsy or seizures. If your child, or anyone in your family, has an epileptic condition or has had seizures of any kind, please consult your child’s physician before using EndeavorRx.

Will my child enjoy playing EndeavorRx?

EndeavorRx is different from other action video games that a child might play. While it can be fun and rewarding at times, it can also feel challenging and repetitive, by design, at others. The treatment programmed into the gameplay experience was designed to challenge a child’s attentional control during gameplay, requiring focus and flexibility to manage tasks at the same time.

The EndeavorRx treatment is delivered via a digital screen. Should I be fearful of screen time risks?

We understand that screen time can be of concern to parents and physicians. We are aligned with the American Academy of Pediatrics in its policy on screen time for children.

Daily EndeavorRx treatments last approximately 25 minutes without interruption. Be sure to let your child know that it is okay to occasionally take a break from treatment for a few minutes in order to avoid excess eye strain or fatigue.

Do I need to sit with my child while they use EndeavorRx?

That is a decision entirely up to you, but it is not necessary. However, we do recommend that you designate a suitable place free from distractions for your child to play, as well as a time of day. For more advice on making the most of your child’s treatment, you can check out our Treatment Tips.

Telemedicine

Can I talk to a doctor online about EndeavorRx?

Yes. You can schedule a virtual appointment with a doctor from this page for just $35 — and it’s possible that this fee will be covered by your insurance provider. You’ll also have the option to arrange an in-person appointment with your current family doctor.

How much does the Telemedicine visit cost?

Currently we can facilitate connecting you to an independent telemedicine provider, DefineTelehealth. The cost of the visit is $35.

If I acquire a prescription online, will my family doctor be sent the details?

The telemedicine provider won’t communicate directly with your family doctor — so, if you get your prescription online, we encourage you to share treatment information about EndeavorRx with your child’s doctor. To make that easier, we created this online form where you can send us your doctor’s contact details, and our team will get in touch with them to provide the appropriate treatment information.

I am having difficulty with telemedicine; what should I do?

We can help get you in touch with DefineTelehealth, which is an independent telemedicine provider unaffiliated with Akili, to discuss this further. Please reach out by emailing them at [email protected].

EndeavorRx Insight

What is the EndeavorRx Insight app and how do I get access to it?

EndeavorRx Insight is our free companion app designed to help parents stay up-to-date on their child’s EndeavorRx treatment activity. It connects directly to their EndeavorRx treatment, so you can view their daily usage and effort levels with at-a-glance data viewable anywhere, anytime on your mobile device.

You can download the EndeavorRx Insight app via the App Store® or on Google Play™.

Does my child need to play EndeavorRx on WiFi in order to sync data to the EndeavorRx Insight app?

Yes, in order to automatically import your child’s play history on the EndeavorRx app, you must be connected to the internet. For more information, visit the instructions for use document here.

What should I look for when using EndeavorRx Insight?

You can use the app to see a visual representation of your child’s daily in-game activity, and find out if they’ve completed their required play for the day. It also measures perceived effort levels calculated based on in-game interactions and how well they’re following the rules. For more details, see the Instructions for Use document here.

How do I report an adverse event witnessed while my child was using EndeavorRx?

If this is an emergency, dial 9-1-1. Otherwise, please notify your child’s healthcare provider about your observation. As part of Akili’s post marketing surveillance, we encourage you to also report this adverse event to Akili Assist® at (844) 254-5447 Monday to Friday: 9am-9pm EST with any other questions. Akili, the manufacturer, may call you for further information.

Technical

Does my family’s data remain safe and private if my child uses EndeavorRx?

We understand how important it is to protect your family’s privacy. Akili uses industry standard privacy and security measures to protect your child’s health data, in accordance with terms of our Privacy Notice for the EndeavorRx treatment located here.

Is an internet connection required to play?

Internet or network connectivity is not required to use the EndeavorRx treatment, but it is required to download, register, activate, and start treatment. Once your child begins treatment, he or she can use the EndeavorRx treatment online or offline. We recommend your child play the EndeavorRx treatment while connected to WiFi so that the app can stay in sync with important updates. Is EndeavorRx available outside of the U.S.?

In order to download and activate EndeavorRx, it must be prescribed by a United States licensed physician, and you must be able to access the United States instance of the App Store® or Google PlayTM.

I obtained my child’s code while we were in the U.S., but I recently moved outside the country. Can I still activate my code?

You will be able to activate your code if you are able to access the United States instance of the App Store® or on Google Play™.

Can my child pause during sessions?

Yes, each daily treatment can be paused at any time by tapping the upper-left corner of the screen. Note that there are built-in rest periods between sessions (every four or five minutes on average).

While we cannot explicitly perform compatibility testing on all Open-tier devices, EndeavorRx can be installed on these devices and we expect an appropriate gameplay experience with no major compatibility issues.

Unsupported Devices

Devices that do not meet our system requirements are considered unsupported devices and should not be used to play EndeavorRx. Please refer to the FAQ entry above for EndeavorRx minimum requirements.

Avoid Unsupported Chipsets

Testing efforts have shown that some devices meet our minimum requirements, but due to certain chipset differences do not deliver the intended gameplay experience and are not supported for EndeavorRx.

Avoid International Devices

We recommend caregivers not purchase international devices for their patients as testing efforts have shown international devices may deliver an unreliable EndeavorRx gameplay experience.

Never Use Jailbroken Devices

Due to security, health privacy, and compatibility concerns, jailbroken devices should never be used to play EndeavorRx.

Indications, Safety and Cautions

Indications:
EndeavorRx is a digital therapeutic indicated to improve attention function as measured by computer-based testing in children ages 8-12 years old with primarily inattentive or combined-type ADHD, who have a demonstrated attention issue. Patients who engage with EndeavorRx demonstrate improvements in a digitally assessed measure, Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA®), of sustained and selective attention and may not display benefits in typical behavioral symptoms, such as hyperactivity. EndeavorRx should be considered for use as part of a therapeutic program that may include clinician-directed therapy, medication, and/or educational programs, which further address symptoms of the disorder.

Safety:
No serious adverse events were reported. Of 538 participants in trials supporting EndeavorRx authorization, 50 participants (9.3%) experienced treatment-related adverse events (probable, likely), and three participants experienced treatment-related adverse events with the digital control, in studies where a control was used. Associated adverse events included frustration (6.1%), headache (1.3%), dizziness (0.6%), emotional reaction (0.4%), nausea (0.4%), and aggression (0.2%). All adverse events were generally transient. Only 3 events led to device discontinuation, and no subject reported lasting or irreversible effects after discontinuation.

Cautions:
Rx only: Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a licensed health care provider. EndeavorRx should only be used by the patient for whom the prescription was written. For medical questions, please contact your child’s healthcare provider. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911. EndeavorRx is not intended to be used as a stand-alone therapeutic and is not a substitution for your child’s medication.

If your child experiences frustration, emotional reaction, dizziness, nausea, headache, eye-strain, or joint pain while playing EndeavorRx pause the treatment. If the problem persists contact your child’s healthcare provider. If your child experiences a seizure stop the treatment and contact your child’s healthcare provider.

EndeavorRx may not be appropriate for patients with photo-sensitive epilepsy, color blindness, or physical limitations that restrict use of a mobile device; parents should consult with their child’s healthcare provider.

Please follow all of your mobile device manufacturer’s instructions for the safe operation of your mobile device. For example, this may include appropriate volume settings, proper battery charging, not operating the device if damaged, and proper device disposal. Contact your mobile device manufacturer for any questions or concerns that pertain to your device.
